Welcome to PregnantCow.com, the website of Ciudad Hermana, a task force of Metro Justice in Rochester, New York.

The mission of Ciudad Hermana is to support the people of El Sauce, Nicaragua by means of political solidarity and humanitarian assistance.

The pregnant cow program is specifically designed to help poor rural communities become self-sufficient. In Nicaragua, rural communities face numerous geographic hardships: hurricanes, mudslides, or droughts which frequently wipe out crops, crop seed and livestock. Pregnantcow loans to these communities provide a way of renewing these food sources and allowing communities to feed themselves and recover from natural disasters.

The money donated to pregnantcow for these purchases is monitored by our El Sauce administrator Mayra Sirias. When a community receives a donation, it is expected to help other communities. Chickens beget chickens and goats beget goats which then are used to move other communities away from one meal a day subsistence living.
